The Aston Martin DB9 is a sports car with coupé or convertible body (replaces the DB7 model), produced from the end of 2004 until 2016.
Two-door coupé also available in a cabriolet version called DB9 Volante with folding canvas roof. The bodywork is made of aluminum, on the outside the line is characterized by a long bonnet, a sloping windshield and a tapered tail. Standard equipment: ABS, airbags (driver, side, passenger), central locking, electronic traction control, immobilizer, external temperature indicator, seat belt pretensioner, electric thermal and electronically foldable rear-view mirrors, height and electrically adjustable driver's seats, power steering, transponder, front electric windows, adjustable steering wheel, radio, alloy wheels, air conditioning, electronic stability control, xenon headlights, interiors of fine material, satellite navigator, rear parking sensors. Head airbags are also available on the Coupé.
The DB9 is equipped with a V12 engine of 5935 cm³, with an output of 455 HP at 6000 rpm, and a maximum engine torque of 570 Nm at 5000 rpm. The engine is located on the chassis in a longitudinal front position, while the gearbox and traction are positioned at the rear (Transaxle scheme).
The car chassis made of aluminum, the balanced distribution of weights between the front and rear allow a high performance driving, while the steering calibration allows a progressive and fast action. This justifies the general approach of the car, which is conceived as a Gran Turismo and not expressly as a track car. The choice of a classic automatic transmission (Touchtronic) with torque converter is thus also consistent.
The DB9 is the first Aston Martin equipped with ESP, and it is also the first car of the house to be built in the new factories in Gaydon (England), after the transfer from the historic ones of Newport Pagnell.
Sia la Coupé che la Volante hanno un bagagliaio di 186 dm3 e un serbatoio da 80 Litri.
An updated version of the engine was introduced in 2008, with a maximum power of 476 hp at 6000 rpm and 600 Nm of maximum torque at 5000 rpm. Starting in 2013, the DB9 was fitted with a further evolution of the engine with 517 HP at 6500 rpm and 620 Nm of torque at 5500 rpm.
Performance is high, the first version produced in the period 2004-2008 reaches a top speed of 300 km/h and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.9 seconds (5.1 seconds in the automatic coupé version).
